Getting to know Shoreline

Shoreline, WA, located just north of Seattle, has a rich history that dates back to the late 19th century. Originally inhabited by the Duwamish tribe, the area saw an influx of European settlers in the 1880s, drawn by the fertile land and proximity to Seattle. The establishment of the Interurban Railway in 1906 spurred development, transforming the rural area into a burgeoning suburb. Shoreline's growth continued through the mid-20th century, fueled by post-World War II housing booms. Officially incorporated as a city in 1995, Shoreline has since evolved into a vibrant community known for its parks, schools, and diverse neighborhoods.

Amazing academics

Shoreline is served by the Shoreline School District, which offers several public and private school options. Public school students west of I-5 attend Shorewood High and Einstein Middle, with nearby elementary schools including Echo Lake, Highland Terrace, Meridian Park, Parkwood, and Syre. East of I-5, students go to Shorecrest High and Kellogg Middle, with elementary options at Briarcrest, Brookside, Lake Forest Park, and Ridgecrest.

Private school options in Shoreline include King’s Schools and Shoreline Christian School, which offer K-12 Christian education, and The Evergreen School, which provides a progressive curriculum for preschool through 8th grade. Brighton School, another private option, emphasizes STEM and arts education for preschool through 8th grade, while St. Luke Parish School provides a Catholic education for preschool through 8th grade. Dartmoor School offers flexible, one-on-one learning for grades 1-12.

The district also has Cascade K-8 Community School, open to all by application, and the Home Education Exchange for K-8 students. The Edwin Pratt Early Learning Center offers preschool options and special education services.
